Hi - I'm newly vegetarian and have an upcoming trip to New Orleans. We will be staying in the French Quarter. Does anyone have suggestions on vegetarian restaurants there? Sounds kinda iffy to me but I'm trying!

I am so excited to share!!! i grew up in NO...live in TX now. smiley-undecided.gif you have to see if Old Dog New Trick is still there in the quarter. it is right next to the St. Louis Cathedral down an alley off of the square. or it was... i think it is probably still there. There also used to be a cool natural foods store on magazine street, you could take the street car down St. Charles avenue and then walk a few blocks to Magazine, not far from where St. Charles meets Carollton Ave.
There are actually a lot of vegetarians and cool friendly restaurants in the city nowadays. Have fun!!!

Thanks for sharing, french_momma - I had already gone so I did not check these out - but I'll use them for my next trip. It was difficult being vegetarian in the French Quarter so I was mostly a flirt. I'm lacto-ovo vegetarian so at least I had eggs. I have to admit to being more of a flirt during this vacation, but I did what I could. It was a wonderful trip and I can't wait to go back!
