I know there are quite a few places in Austin, but which are good and what is good to order. My BIG problem is that I am allergic to mushrooms and they seem to be very popular....so any suggestiosn on places I can go that have great vegan food without the mushrooms!???!!!??!

Hmmm what side of Atx are you in? If you're south you should totally check out Bouldin Creek Coffee House, which has a full menu (YUM!), Sugar Mamas which has veggie cupcakes or Izzos tacos which can probably do a special order for you. Oh and I LOVE veggie heaven on the drag (I always get the steam bun, but I think it has shitakes in it) I love mushrooms so most of what I have ordered have them in some way, but most resturants there shouldnt have a problem accommodating you. Feel free to private message me if you have any other questions!

Dori THANK YOU!!! I live in South Austin so these places will work great for me. I will definately check them out. I hear that I am really missing out on the whole mushroom thing...wish I could eat them.

Bouldin Creek Coffee House was AWESOME!!!! I loved it. I took my Mom there and we had the HUmmus plate, Soul Plate and Cool Summer Sammie....all of it was GREAT and VERY reasonably priced....I will be going back for sure!!!!

It's been a couple of years since I've eaten at this place but T&S Seafood on North Lamar had a good Dim Sum that had Veg choices.

Casa De Luz!! Its a macrobiotic (superhero) restaurant. It is non-profit, organic, and homemade. (It was the campus for the macro-vegan culinary school I went to.) The food is great and they even have lots of great macro products and books if that interests you. It is the most calming and relaxing restaurant I have ever eaten in. You can go to their website to check out their menu for that meal (it changes 3 times a day and they post it a little while before mealtime), to make sure it doesn't have mushrooms.

Mr. Natural is great for inexpensive vegetarian/vegan food. They also have a great bakery. Beets Cafe on W. 5th Street is also terrific-it's a new raw food place, and definitely worth checking out.

Mr. Natural is great and they have a good deal at lunch. Mothers is also a great veggie restaurant in the city. My favorite is a Veg/Vegan Indian restaurant, Bombay Express, which is in North Austin.
