Hi- I am almost done reading The Kind Diet and have enjoyed it very much. I have been making changes slowly in our house and it has been eye opening. I have heard about these products a few times but have never tried them for cooking. You see I have to move slowly as my husband is not on board. He said to me the other day---no more turkey meatballs---I love your turkey meatballs. REALLY! UGH. We do not eat alot of pasta in our house. Our house has traditionally run on chicken and veggies in different ways. Can anyone tell me about these products---are they good. Should I use them and not tell him? Thoughts?
I got my meat-loving boyfriend to go vegetarian last year. I read about Gardein in VegNews and thought he might like it (he misses meat sometimes). Verdict? Alone, a meat-eater can definitely tell that Gardein is not meat. Although Oprah just had the author of the Conscious Cook on her show yesterday and he prepared it as a chicken dish and apparently people can't tell the difference. I have found that with trying to get him to try healthy, different foods that I NEED to be honest. If I try to trick him into eating something he usually finds out and gets mad. Try preparing the Gardein recipe Oprah put on her website - it looks delicious - and let your husband know that it is something new.
