Hi everybody,
I wrote another place but no one answered me. I just got done reading The Kind Diet and love it. I don't have Trader Joes here and Whole Foods closed. I don't know what stores to go to get food? Or, can I get anything in regular grocery stores. I"m in Omaha, Nebraska.
I would like to come here often and meet some people to help me on my journey. Hopefully, someone will answer.
Thank you
Hi, Lynette! I think we are all new...
Being in the midwest can be a challenge, my brother is in Iowa and he says the same thing. You might try some online sites like Vegan Essentials and Veganstore. A little pricey but some great options available. If you place a good sized order you don't have to feel as guilty about the fuels used in shipping, etc.
I was a ovo-lacto veggie for many years, about 16 years, i guess if you take out the time for the three pregnancies. Not that it is impossible to stay veg while preggers, but i couldn't do it. wish now that i could go back and try again, i think my resolve is much stronger now. i have been vegan for about 2 months or so, and i am reading Alicia's wonderful book- about half done now.
Don't let yourself be discouraged about trying to find "others" like yourself. it takes time to build a new circle of aquaintances, but it will happen. and you never know who in your life will join you. you can try casually leaving a copy of the book out when friends are over, or when you meet them for tea... if they are curious, then they can borrow the book or you can buy them a copy!
But there seem to be lots of nice people here to support you in the meantime. this is my first post- i could not resist replying when you sounded so forlorn! i have been reading all of the fun posts for a few days now. sorry this got so long!
Thank you for answering me. I didn't know where I could go to buy anything. Do you know anything about Sunorganicfarm.com? I put vegan and googled and it is one that came up.
I'm so happy to meet you. At least coming here I don't feel so alone.
Thanks again french_momma
I had never heard of it, but looked at it after reading your post and it seems like a good site. There are actually many vegan stores online, and many natural foods sites that carry vegan items, just try to find a new one each week maybe.
Another cool thing i recently found is gopicnic.com- they have little boxed lunches to order with yummy things like sunflower seed butter and such. Not all of the lunches are vegan, but they have a section to look in. My kids loved these! We save them for really hectic days when i can't pack them/me a lunch, but they are too pricey and too much packaging for me to feel good using them all of the time...
It is nice to meet you too! i haven't figured out how to upload a photo of myself, if you figure it out, let me know!
Thanks french_momma!!! I haven't figured it out yet either how to upload a photo...lolol
It was great to meet you to...
i just checked this site out, its mentioned in the kind diet. the prices are better than i was expecting... including shipping costs.
