I get to go to the Farmers Market tomorrow, I'm so excited!

I'm not a student anymore, although I'm thinking of going back to school. I want my hubby to go back first. We are one of the couples hit by the economy and my wonderful mother has bailed us out. She allows us to live with her rent free and only gives is a honey do list. Right now we are replacing a floor and working on her back yard, I'm a very lucky girl! Next prject will be repainting the foyer and putting down a new floor in there. I love playing interior decorater. Thank godess my mother likes my taste lol.

I'm so happy the hair is working for the oil problem. I know about 5 small salons out by me that are sending hair. One of them is a friend of mine, she works out of her house and she offered discounted cuts if you allowed her send the clippings. I'm getting my hair cut on thursday and will be allowing that.

*hugs to all*

Thanks french-momma. We have a farm called Angelic Organics about 20-30 minutes from my house that offers CSA and they also stock a small natural grocery store by me. Maybe the family should drive out there and start buying directly from them, may be cheaper. Never though about working there to help with costs.

Yeah, our co-op is all volunteer help, and the girl who runs it does not make a dime of profit, she is raw vegan and just wants to share the love!

Unfortunately, many people live in areas where there aren't co-ops, farmers markets or even organic fruits/veggies sold at the supermarket. I live in one of the most obese cities in the US and there is a reason for it.

We have one major grocery store chain even though they have gotten better at carrying a little more organic. There is a small health food store, but usually their organic produce is almost rotten. The farmer's market will sell organic fruits, but veggies are rare. Like others, I have to pay alot for organic. It just makes me more careful about my food. I plan very carefully and don't buy too much at once. There are times I had to buy non-organic veggies, but I try to stick with the ones that are least polluted. I have asked the produce guys to try and get certain veggies that I like. They have tried to work with me because they know I'll buy it.

It upsets me that people will pay so much money on their cars, the clothes they wear, the toys/books/etc., but they won't sacrifice for their one God-given body.

I will pay more for organic but if its too high I will wait for the prices to come down before I bring it home. Can't tell you how many times I've passed up beautiful strawberries because I know they will soon be $1.00 cheaper. My husband was giving me grief about organics costing more but I told him I won't budge on giving us and our little ones the best possible. Although, I have cut out other expenses so better quality food will fit in our budget. I have cut out a lot of my little extras so my hubby sees now how important this is to me and he no longer complains.

We had company in this weekend and my husband was talking to his cousins about what we were now eating and I swear he sounded proud. Of course he won't admit that to me. HA-HA! So anyway, our cousin has been suffering from headaches for years, been to countless Dr's and crazy tests but she started seeing a "young chiro" (her words) who suggested she has a gluten allergy. He suggested she change her diet instead of meds (whoo-hooo!) I tried to help her but I am not very gluten savvy - any reading suggestions I can pass on?
