I'm new to this but very inspired and would like to get started. However, since this way of living/eating is new to me I am a bit intimidated. I would love a grocery list of the essential things I need in my pantry, refrigerator and freezer! Beyond following new recipes it would be great to know what the basics are for this lifestyle!!
When I started out, I bought "Becoming Vegan" by Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis. It goes over vegan nutrition in detail and explains a lot of the foods that were new to me. I seriously recommend that book. Also, I bought and borrowed as many vegan cookbooks that I could and tried to make a new recipe whenever I could. But beyond the recipes, each book usually gives an explanation in the beginning, and they are usually filled with useful advice. I also checked out some podcasts on itunes. Just read and learn as much as you can - and always be open-minded! You should also read a book about animal rights, something to keep you going when/if you start to forget why you are doing this (like slaughterhouse).
Don't feel intimidated. ANYONE can live this way. Be excited that this is new for you!
I agree with Heather and also recommend "Becoming Vegan." Good luck and Happy Shopping!! :D
Thank you so much!!! I appreciate your advice and enthusiasm. ;)
