Hi Alicia and Kind Ones!

I really feel the key to real success at the Kind Life - 'specially in terms of food - is setting yourself up for success. Your foods, ingredients, tools, etc...all organized and accessible. The problem? I'm sooooo disorganized and don't wanna be all scattered! :) Help? How do you guys keep things easily in place and organized?

Alicia...wow, busy you, creating and testing all these recipes - how do you set yourself up?? ALL you busy people, how do you DO it? :)

I am super organized...probably a little bit too organized. Here is what I do...maybe this will help you? Whenever I cook something, I make extra. I freeze individual-sized portions for myself so that I can have a healthy meal when in a hurry. I make extra beans and freeze them too. I just bought mason jars to keep my grains and beans in (instead of having them in bags with rubber bands and clips!), i keep my vegetables in "green bags" and try to organize them in my refrigerator so that I know what I have. I clean my refrigerator out once a week just to make sure everything is fresh and keep tabs on what I have. I label EVERYTHING haha.
Not sure what else to say. What specifically are you having difficulty with?

Hi ladies! So sorry, I just saw now that you've posted - I'm afraid I lost ya there, Heather - LOL Ya did great, thanks!

Hmmmm...what specifically...well, limited easily-accessible cabinet space for one (I'm afraid many of them are high-up and I'm under 5 ft) - on the plus side, my counter space is pretty excellent for a small kitch.

It's like the girl says in Lethal Weapon 2 - I find it so hard to plan because I don't know what I'll be hungry for from day t o day - LOL! But you know what, that's just too bad - planning I must do.

Thank you both - It looks like I'll be trying to put my weekends to better use cooking ahead, making a list or two...dang, and planning will make managing what I eat sooooo much easier - DUH. Gosh, you've both got amazing, logical, easy-sounding ideas - I think I can do this. And Amy, you're so right, you've got to enjoy it - I'll put some great music on and be-bop through the cookin'.

I think the moment I can swing it I'll invest in a slow-cooker, major supplies of freezer bags/"dishes" and a labeler - LOL!

Eek - gonna hafta move Desmond from Lost of my fridge to make space for the to-dos and lists - HAHA!! J/k!!

:) Amen, sister, thank you. Yep, I hear ya, I've got the step stool too, done the climbing - it's just a pain in the butt! Then again, I could think of it as my own aerobic program...up the cabinets, down the cabinets - LOL! I guess its kinda logical that I should keep less-used stuff up there...but there's only so much space lower-down, alas...

Fun Tip- One of my girlfriends lives in a mobile home, so her ceilings are short. She GLUED her mason jars of baking needs and spices to the ceiling and just reaches up and untwists when she needs them
Another girlfriend, glued her small jars of spices to the underside of her cupboards inside and out!
