I read that b12 cannot be found in a vegan diet and must be consumed as a supplement. Is this true? Also, I am new to the vegan lifestyle and was wondering how I can up my iron and calcium intake if I am no longer eating dairy, eggs, fish and other meat.

Go to veganhealth.org and read his section on B12 (you should take a look at everything else too). He is a registered dietician and co-founder of Vegan Outreach so he really knows what he is talking about. Iron and calcium are easy if you eat your leafy greens - like Kale. You should look into buying the book "Becoming Vegan" by Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis. It explains vegan nutrition in detail and even has a food guide/pyramid to help you.

I think Alicia also addresses Iron and B12 in the book. Those small sections are useful to read but yeah there are other online resources and I also heard Becoming Vegan is a good book although I've never read it.
