I would like to become vegan, yet I'm only 17, and I don't make dinner. My parents are not keen on becoming vegan. Any suggestions on how to make meals that i could eat, and they would too? i don't want to be eating different meals from themsmiley-smile.gif

Scarelette, there was never a better time to learn how to cook! First of all, congrats on making the decision to become Vegan. It will affect your life in so many positive ways, I wish I had started at your age. Educating yourself about a healthy Vegan diet will be a #1 priority and I'm sure The Kind Diet will help you along the way. Websites are a great reference for recipe ideas and message boards for support from others in your situation. There will be some challenges for you, but all of us have been through them before. Stick to your guns and offer to cook dinner for your family. You don't need to emphasize that it's Vegan at first, only that it's delicious and then after everyone has enjoyed themselves they'll find out that Veganism isn't so bad. Good Luck! :-)

Look up some easy vegan recipes that are on peta's site or in Alicia's book. Eating vegan can be easy to do with your family because just simple things like broccoli with Earth Balance butter or yams with cinnamon are things u can add to an ordinary dinner for meat eaters in your family. A grain like couscous with a few other ingredients would be helpful as a side to any meal. If you google couscous recipes, I bet some will come up. You can find some by going to food network dot com as well. Just make sure no animal products are in it. Adding veggies of any kind to a meal is a great way to get others to eat it and you're helping them get their veggies in.
