I have lost seven pounds and I feel amazing! I have been loving the recipes in the book and my energy level has improved. I have a banquet to go to and it is going to be really hard. None of the food will be vegan and I don't feel like explaining to a bunch of hunters why I am not eating..I have to go and I am really nervous and would apperciate any advice. Terry

First of all, congratulations on feeling so great! As for your banquet, eat before you go, and try not to make a big thing about why you aren't eating. Definitely don't be nervous! There is NOTHING to be embarrassed about. If someone asks why you aren't really eating, just explain nicely and as succinctly as possible- sounds like this probably isn't the best venue for a full-out discussion. But if someone is genuinely interested, explain away!
If this is a sit-down meal, you could try to order something vegan - a lot of times you will be able to have something made for you. Just explain what it is you don't eat, and be nice about it of course. If it is a buffet, then see if there is a salad or something vegan - you can usually ask the servers what is in certain dishes if you aren't sure. If this is at someone's house or something where it would be ok for you to bring something to add to the spread, make something vegan and delicious and bring enough for everyone!
The best advice I can give you though, is to stay positive about it. If you look miserable and hungry, people are going to think that vegans always miss out on food and fun. And take advantage of the opportunity to talk about how great you are feeling to any that are interested in your new diet!
Sorry that was a bit long-winded. =)

i've been expecting to lose weight since i gave up sugar, meat, dairy, eggs, white flour, processed foods and fish and this wed it will be 3 weeks, i am not doing it to lose weight but i lived on sugar and ate so poorly before i heard of 'the kind diet' i would of thought something would have changed. however, i do feel better than ever and i have more energy and i don't feel hungry or deprived at all. how long did it take you to lose weight?

maybe your portions are too large? When I went vegan I started losing weight like crazy. But I had weight to lose. Perhaps you just don't have much weight to lose? Or maybe you need to try being a bit more active?

I have gone vegan before and gained weight and was discouraged and quit. It has taken me about 2 1/2 weeks to lose seven pounds and the only difference this time is I am eating more veggies and smaller portions of veggie products like burgers. I also have more energy and my skin has completely cleared up.

That's great Terry! Consistency pays off...i think when you'll least expect it...if u stick to the plan...you'll reach your goal weight. But it does take time. So glad to see you have energy and clear skin immediately! That rocks.

Congratulations, Terry!! Awesome for you, and let that carry you right to that banquet.

You know what I'm hearing in my head that you can say?:
"Thanks so much for asking, but I'm not eating meat these days - it's REALLY going well and making me feel great so I'm on kind of a roll with that. Speaking of which, can I pass you one...here!" (I mean, you're at a banquet, right?) Hopefully that will be disarmingly charming and either quell any further "scrutiny", or better yet, make them curious in a positive way! :)

Good luck and have fun!
