Gaining weight!?!?!?

Ok, i cannot tell for sure if i am just bloated, or if this is true gain. i am definitely very gassy (tmi, sorry).
but i am living on a gorgeous array of grains, greens, veggies, miso soup, etc... what is going on?! instead of losing weight, my clothes are tighter and my airborne allergies are making me soooo tired. i don't mean to whine, i am loving the diet and the book is wonderful and incredible...but i am worried that maybe i am doing something wrong or having a reaction to something i am eating?
Thought i should add a little background here. I moved to full vegan late in the summer- July or August. And i was losing weight slowly, but then my two year old weaned at the beginning of September. The weight came back slowl but sure and then just in the last two weeks i gained about 4 or 5 pounds. Doesn't sound like much, but i do not like the trend!
I am sure it is not anything to do with the kind diet, but something going on with me. Probably hormones... any input would be appreciated!
I don't know if this helps but I react to the soy and it makes me bloated and gassy. I have to limit my soy intake. I love it though its not always kind to me. I gained weight but it was from eating white flour and sugary things. I think everyone is so different that everyone adjusts differently. I have been vegan for 3months. I was vegetarian before. I gained 7lbs in the last few months. However I found I was eating the wrong combination of foods with too much white flour and sugar. I personally do better with Whole grains, veggies, and some fruit. I was also over doing the fruit before too. I hope this helps some. I want to add that since I have been superhero the last week and I have lost 5lbs in 10days or more. Its with exercise and eating a mostly superhero diet. I want to say one last thing. Don't give up your body needs time to adjust and you need time to find what foods work best for you.
Thanks, fitmama, that does help! I am trying also to limit soy, because I wonder if the estrogen is affecting me. I almost never eat white/refined foods, only if it is the only thing available (which of course hardly ever happens). Could be fruit, though i try to watch that too.
Exercise definitely needs a better routine. You know how it is, my life revolves around everyone else. Thanks so much for the encouragement!
I know a trick for exercise. If you try to squeeze it in during nap time or even before they wake up. I sometimes end my night with a little yoga to relax and destress myself. If yoga isn't your thing try Pilate's or running or even aerobic exercise while the kidos nap or before they get up. The only way I get time is if I leave the house or do it before they wake or at nap or bedtime.
Thanks, you are an inspiration! I have joined the other thread now because you have been very helpful to me.
take out soy and tofu products. you will feel so much healthier and your digestion with be great. it will help get rid of bloat.
Thanks surfchick! Do you include miso and shoyu, and tempeh? Some people say that fermented soy is good and the others are not...
i don't do miso, unless i am really in the mood but white miso is great if you are gonna do miso. be sure you don't get a paste try and find the healthiest miso you can. I put nama shoyu in salad dressings i make for recipes but not a lot. and no i don't do tempeh. soy is really mucus causing, even alicia says in her book she doesn't really do it. its more of a blue moon thing but try taking it out even just for a few weeks and your sinuses and digestion will feel amazing. thats just going off experience. i did my first year of veganism full of tofu and soy products or non soy products that were made with nuts like the brand quorn (which is a great soy free "meat"). And i didn't really lose any weight, i still had that lethargic feeling, and was getting sick a lot. When i first took out soy and tofu and all fake meats in that way the first week was incredible. the air i could breathe was great and i noticed less bloat. so just basing my post off experience. try it see how it goes.
If you are eating a lot of grains you could have a gluten intolerance which just means you react badly to gluten which is the protien that binds wheat together.
