Eating grain free versus high grain.
I have been battling bacterial overgrowth/ IBS for the past two years. It is finally somewhat manageable after I cut out sugar, gluten (even though I dont think I'm gluten intolerant), and animal products. However I am very confused and frustrated right now because I am hearing opposing views from different people about whether grains should be a part of my program. My nutritionist says that I should eat very low grain but Alicia's book suggests eating high grain. What's the deal? Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations?

I guess everyone doesn't know either. Alicia whats the deal with grains? What about diets like Specific Carbohydrate Diet and Primate Diets where they say grains make you tired and they ferment in your digestive system?

yeah my nutritionist says that grains ferment in the colon causing gas and bacteria growth. I think I have a condition called Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, essentially just too much bad bacteria.
Also there are diets like the ones I mentioned above that are for people with digestive problems. People are successful with those. Is the kind diet not for people with digestive problems?

the kind diet is for sure the best diet in the world for people with digestive problems.
please reread the benefits of whole grains. and the good carbs versus bad carbs.
and contact pcrm.org for more detailed help. as they can help you specifically with your condition and concerns.
but i promise the best thing for your condition is the superhero plan in the kind diet. and maybe get a councilor macro to help you!
im sorry there is so much conflicting info out there. but is this nutritionist a vegan? i ask this because unless they understand the true nasty foods versus kind foods i find it hard to understand where they are coming from with the whole grains. macros cure cancer and every illness under the sun with whole grains.
anywho go with your gutt. follow your intuition.
and maybe just try the kind diet superhero plan for 4 weeks and see how you feel. and save money by not going to nutritionist!
and then see where you are after that!?
i hope this helps....

I'm wondering if Ashley's nutritionist knows she's a vegetarian/vegan... I have read in the past that fermentation of foods in the intestines happen when one eats certain combination of foods like, meat and grains or fruits. Because the latter was eaten with meat which takes a long time to digest, the grains which contain sugar feeds on the bad bacteria in our intestine... Just a thought... something to look into.

She says it is okay for me to eat grains as long as they are soaked before cooking them. Oh and my nutrionist is vegan, she says 98 percent of the time, and she knows I am vegan.

I am spending a fortune every month on supplements and I am ready to be off of them and living my life. Maybe I will try the superhero plan for 1 month and see how it goes. It cant hurt right.

My biggest issue is bloating and brain fog/headaches which leads my doctors to think I have some form of bacterial or fungal overgrowth but it is not showing up in my tests. I have been sick for three years and I am really sick of it.
