Becoming a Superhero

I've been a vegetarian for 9 years. The transition was easy for me because I did it for my love of animals. But I also found tremendous health benefits. The only problem was that I couldn't find a meal plan that met my needs,so I've been making it up as I go along. I've wanted to become a vegan, but didn't know how to start. I got The Kind Diet for my birthday yesterday and haven't put it down! I'm so excited to finally be able to be vegan and healthy. I'm intimidated by all of the new foods and concerned that I won't be able to find them near me, but I'm heading out today to start the journey.

Hi Rottie!...welcome to this community..hope you enjoying it so far!...well done for deciding to be vegan, it certainly can be overwhelming to start with!...i have been vegetarian flirt for 6 years then complete vegetarian for 2 and half years and then turned vegan about 6 months ago.....!...Before i read Alici'a superhero section, i mainly lived on wholemeal rice or veg pasta, w/m noodles, veggies, fruit, nuts and soya products ie yoghurts and rice milk!...ive been on the superhero diet now a few days and have had to eliminate some of the above items etc.....my local fruit and veg store is good for stocking veggies!....perhaps try local farmers markets for veggies also......stock up on the beans/legumes/nuts. ive never really tried the sea vegetables before so this part will be interesting!....i hope this helps somewhat.!...i wish you all the best towards being a Superhero. x

I'm thrilled to say that I've now found 97% of the items on my shopping list for the Superhero meal plan. It was so much easier than I thought! And a lot cheaper too. I found most of the Asian ingredients at a wonderful Asian grocery near me. There's a great farmer's market near me that I've never tried before, but I went there today and found so many awesome veggies! I'm now ready to get started!
By the way, if anyone needs a shopping list for the Superhero plan, I've made one in Excel. I'm happy to send to you.
