I saw brown rice protein powder in Whole Foods. Silly question, but would this fuel my post-run belly and still be Vegan? I'm confident that it is, but just want to see if anyone else uses this. The real question is, What does it taste like? Do I mix it with anything? I was thinking Rice milk.

I've been thinking a lot about finding a vegan protein power as well. I would like one for a meal replacement/snack after a run...

I've used brown rice protein powder in the past as a part of a nice morning smootie. Very mild, nearly non-existant taste, so be prepared to add other stuff with some flavor. My smoothie recipe was a scoop of rice protein, a tablespoon of peanut butter, a couple of tablespoons of ground flax, and a handful of whatever fruit I happened to have on hand. Frozen strawberries worked really well, as did banana.

I've been using Vega as a meal replacement and I really like it a lot. It's not just protein, but lots of other goodies and it's all natural.

Thanks for the idea. I will get that when I go to whole foods this weekend. I also was wondering how Vega tasted. I must be pretty good since you stated you liked it a lot. I will try it.

I've also used Vega in the past, but since I'm taking a multivitamin now it seems that it would be too much (Vega fulfills all your daily requirements for vitamins and minerals). I would go for Vega. Mix the suggested amount (it comes with a little scoop measure) or you can even put half the amount, with a little soy/almond/rice milk, a splash of fruit juice and some fresh fruit. It makes one amazing and nutritious smoothie!

I have not tried brown rice protein, but I use hemp protein powder for my morning smoothies and love it! It does have a pretty earthy flavor, so I usually add blueberries, a banana, almond/rice milk and sometimes stevia. Fills me up and has 13g protein

I am also training for a half marathon and am using a meal replacement by pure advantage that is 100% vegan and totally delicious! I bought it off Cosmo's vegan shoppe online. I bought the vanilla flavour and mix it with almond milk. I love it and it gives me tons of energy! Hope this helps!

I am hugely happy with my Vega!I am training for triathlons and marathons, and I don't think I could eat enough calories in a day with food alone! I know that sound horrible for people trying to lose weight, but the idea here is that you can either see small weight loss gains with high athletic gains, or high athletic gains with small weight loss. I have lost about 8 pounds in 3-4 weeks of going vegan, and it was all unwanted extra-crap weight that has made my training even easier. The big thing in all of that was that I am eating tons. I am losing weight and inches, but my running and swimming times are decreasing, and I am feeling better rested in the mornings, so I can get even more training in instead of being all tired and lethargic.I found that Vega really helped me get everything I need (especially since running smashes iron out of your system so quickly!) and kept me full as well.I find that in a smoothie with some fruit and OJ was best for me, or in a breakfast cookie. Yay cookies for breakfast!!Keep training everyone, my favourite look on peoples faces is when I tell them I am training for a half-iron man in June on a vegan diet...priceless!!
