I've been about 90% superhero for about two weeks. I cut out sugar and all processed foods and amped up my veggie, whole-grain rice and sea veggie intake. I've also been chewing like it's going out of style, which I had never done before. I always inhaled my food so fast my body didn't have time to process that I was even eating so I always ate waaaaaaay too much. I also stopped eating past 8pm, which is 3 hours before my bedtime. This had made a world of difference in my sleeping well.
I'm pleased to say that I've lost a little over 5 pounds and I just feel better. I'm not counting calories or points (like I was doing recently) and it's just working out how it's supposed to.
I'm learning that my body knows what it's doing if I let it. I am learning to slow it down (eating-wise) and really pay attention to what I'm doing. I imagine this will be a life-long journey as most things are and I'm so excited that it's starting off on the right foot.
I'm so grateful for this book, really I am. Thank you, Alicia, for writing it.
Congrats Kristie! I'm so happy for you! :)
Two weeks in now:
What an awesome choice. It's only been 6 days. The intensity was INTENSE...but I wasn't giving up. This a.m. I awoke to a feeling of "hello world" and realized I felt better :D
I already rarely ate meats, fish, and fruit. But, loved veggies. So I got to (rather than had to) phase out dairy. The only thing I ate every a.m. was yogurt (plain was my fave) and cottage cheese. All other dairy was here and there as well as processed. phased all the "nasty" out over last 2 weeks.
I love the barley tea. It took the place of my coffee. My husband and son can't believe how it smells like coffee. It reminds of me of either weak coffee or strong black tea.
A LITTLE HEAD START: I had already made some serious food changes 6 yrs ago...natural, organic, lean...all the "healthier" changes. I believe that's what made this choice important. I wanted to take it to the next level of "clean and pure". Then along came Alicia and the kind lifestyle. Also had to make some social changes.
Love the hot scrub, baths (which helped with the detox symptoms), even the chewing.
I feel so happy to be in this day and there's nothing "special" planned. It just feels good to be here.
Where do you buy Barley tea? I checked my Whole Foods store today and they did not have it. Thanks! (And glad you are feeling so wonderful! I am 5 days in and loving it!)
Hi Heather,
My husband found it at our oriental store, Don Quixote's. Maybe you can find it at that type of store. Not sure. It was our first time buying it. Thank you for your well wishes. Have an awesome time on your new adventure. 5 days...yay!
