There are so many exciting places in Ann Arbor, I'm not sure if it's just changing times or if this is a really groovy place.
The People's food-coop is fantastic. I just joined! But it's a really cool store and you don't have to be a member at all. Cafe Verde is connected and they have fair trade coffee and vegan food and its a relaly nice vibe.
Anyone must try the Earthen Jar. It is vegetarian, mostly vegan and mostly indian buffet (4.99 a pound!) . They also have yummy vegan cookies and mac and cheese. This is one vegan place my boyfreind will actually suggest to go! Their flyer (http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:gH24dNVDH8IJ:www.earthenjar.com/How%2520to%2520Win%2520An%2520Argument%2520With%2520A%2520Meat%2520Eater.doc+earthen+jar+how+to+win+an+argument+with+a+meat+eater&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a is so awesome and the owners are sooo nice.
Seva is a hippie institution, serving really good vegetarian food and wine since the seventies.
Also really good falafel at jerulelem gardens and ann arbor brewery pub has yummy veggie food. There are some eco friendly stores on liberty street like orchid lane and others.
I really want to try Chia Chiang and I check menus a lot now and I am always so excited because I am seeing a lot of vegetarian meals and even whole sections! I love making things at home but it makes me feel really secure knowing that I still have really a enjoyable and exciting exciting time out at restaurants exploring new food and being social.

I love Ann Arbor, I remember passing the Whole Foods and just drooling at how big it was :)

Oh and Also! The Jolly pumpkin is a new restaurant and brewery with vegan selections and I tried the Vegan Chocolate cake with coconut mik and it was INSANE. If you visit or live here you have to go there for dessert. I bet there regular food is good too.
