Do you think Burdock Root would work as a substitution for Lotus Root?

I want to make the Maple-Roasted Lotus Root, Sunchokes, and Leeks tonight. Unfortunately, my Whole Foods only carries Burdock Root. Since I've never had either of those items I'm not sure if the substitution would be good. As it's pouring down raining, I can't drag my poor kids back out in the rain searching for Lotus Root. TIA

Also, would you peel the lotus root and/or burdock root or the sunchokes? Thanks!!
