Hi my name is Jamie Rain. I bought the Kind diet for myself as a birthday present. I am not vegan, but I am seriously considering it. I'm a little bit afarid that I wil not be able to give up cheese... but we shall see. I have not eaten any meat for years, so I guess this is the logical step. I'm a bit nervous, but excited as well. My long time boyfriend is not a veggie... but he is thinking about making the leap... so here is for a healtier happier life and planet.

Hi-My name is Shannon McGuire. I have followed this site since 2010 and it has been an amazing source of information for me. I have a question for all of you. Have any of you contacted Pet Food Companies for donations? There are two wonderful people that live in Southwest Virginia. They are Catholic (not a couple) and they live on land in country and they take animals in when people pass away or someone goes into the nursing home, etc. They live on less than a shoe string budget and they have about 70 dogs, about 50 cats, and various other animals that they care for on a daily basis. They are so wonderful and I donate to them for the animals, but I am curious about the success that some of you may have had in contacting major corporations for donations? Any luck or tips you are willing to share? Thank you for any advice you can give. I am grateful!

Hello all, I'm Kate and I've been vegetarian for 4 years and vegan for 2. I've played college softball for the past 4 years and will be graduating next month. I've been criticized and questioned by many for my diet as a collegiate athlete but making the switch to vegan has fueled my body and boosted my athletic performance remarkably.

I've always been passionate about food, nutrition and the connection our individual wellness and environmental sustainability so I'm eager to join the Kind Life community where everyone seems to share the same interests!

Hi! I'm Annaliese and I've been a vegetarian for 8 years, a vegan for... a week! For the last five years, I've had no energy. Sluggish all the time, fall asleep several times a day during random tasks, etc. Yesterday, for the first time in FIVE YEARS, I felt awake! When I became a vegetarian, I became less healthy. I decided to stick with it because I was veg for ethical reasons. I thought I'd feel that way my whole life-- unhealthy. Turns out, it wasn't the veg diet that was hurting me (though I know I used to eat way too many veg processed foods!)-- it was the dairy I was still allowing into my life! Now, I'm working to regain my health. I'm now vegan, but I know I need to be healthier about my vegan choices, and The Kind Diet is helping me with that. (I read it in its entirety yesterday!) I'm going grocery shopping today with Alicia's simple meal reminder in mind: 1/4 grain, 1/4 protein, 1/2 veg. And I'm going to try to get as many veggies as possible that are native to my area, and no nightshades! I hope to be primarily Superhero by the end of the year. :)

Oh, and I'm blessed enough to have a significant other who is doing this with me. He's been vegetarian for 20 years, but the cheese has been difficult for him to kick. We've been phasing it out for a year for his cholesterol, anyway, but this is the first time we've eliminated it entirely.

Thanks for reading, and I'm sorry for posting something so long! I'm just sooo excited!

Hey y'all!!

I just finished the book and can't stop carrying it around! My husband's side of the family has a history of heart problems so his doctor highly recommended a plant based diet as a preventative measure for him. Years ago I tried going vegetarian, but wasn't armed with good support or information. I am now back on track and going vegan with my husband. It's only been a week and I already feel great, I had a moment of weakness with a slice of meat lovers pizza and felt the effects the next day! No more 'slip ups' for me! Thank you Alicia for the book and all the references to other materials. I feel empowered and more energetic already!

Now if I can just find some vegans here in Louisville,KY...........

Hi everyone, I am knew at this. The vegan diet. I decided this would be a perfect diet for me because if health reason. Reading some of your responses regarding why your vegan, my reason doesn't seem as passionate. I am 40 years, married have a daughter who is a sophmore in college and twin boys who are seven years old. At the beginning of the summer I went to the doctor and had a physical, the doctor pretty much told me if I didn't start changing my lifestyle I would pretty much be dead by next summer. I went to the library and found Alicia's book "The Kind Diet" and started reading about the different possibilities the Kind Diet could change my life. I have been on it for about 2 weeks. I have more energy, my digestive system has been working properly. I just feel so much better... I wanted to thank Alicia in writing this book this is the longest I have stuck to any diet. I started walking about six weeks ago. I feel I have the energy to go and not question myself about going.

I went out with some friends this past weekend and I was so proud of myself because I didn't even cheat..... Thanks again........
