Hi Yoona and Annamaija!
I have been vegetarian for a few years and am trying to go vegan as well. my hardest part is dairy - I love cheese and yogurt. LOL
Good luck and maybe we can bounce ideas off each other.

Good luck girls!

I am out in Alberta - land of beef and dairy! I would love to be in BC, where people are a little less... um, animal and oil centred! :P

I wish vancouver was more evolved in the vegan world like new york or la is. it's pretty tough to find a good restaurant or quick bite to eat unless you live at granville island or by whole foods. heather I feel your pain. I went on a road trip to calgary this past summer and when i asked people where a good restaurant is most people laughed and told me i was in the wrong province. Driving down the highway I saw a truck full of cows. I could see how squished in they were, and I wanted to burst into tears.Alysha- I'm sure being in nanaimo is tough when it comes to finding ingredients. is there a whole foods there?

It definatley is very hard!!
And no there is no Whole foods in Nanaimo. There might be one in Victoria ( an hour and a half away) we do have a few health food stores that have some stuff. But it is very expensive! Being Vegan and a Student is difficult!

Annamaija, yep, we get laughed at a whole lot here. :P But, people start noticing the differences, our skin, our lack of illnesses... it will show. :)

heya gang!

ahhh so lovely to be with other bc peeps :)

i'm a vancouver island girl here (in victoria) but alysha - i used to live in nanaimo - and ya, vegan/veggiehead restaurants are fewww and far between up there.

do you check out island natural market - up near woodgrove?
no whole foods markets here (yet), but there is lifestyle market - which is like a small whole foods. also have planet veg.
duncan has some great finds though too - the garage? that neat natural bulk food store, that delish cafe there..mmm getting hungry just thinking bout it.

annamajjia and yoona - i grew up near van - and adore eating at the naam when i'm visiting - mmmm their zippy noodles, noh pie, dragon bowls are super yum!
and ya annamajia - the eatery is most excellent - SUCH a variety of sushi, unbelievable.

if ever you girls get on over here to victoria, there are some great veggie/vegan digs to visit

peace

Hello!

I'm in Vancouver too. There's a bunch of good vegetarian restuarants and loads and loads of vegan friendly restaurants.

Have you been to Karmavore? It's the vegan store in New West.

Talk soon!
Roxy
