Is it okay to substitute agave nectar or honey for baking?

I like to use brown rice syrup personally. I think agave nectar is too sweet! And if you're a strict vegan, honey is kind of a no-no...

Thank you, Heather. I am searching for brown rice syrup in stores around my area, but haven't found it yet. I will most likely end up buying in online. And, I'll not use the honey. :)
Thank you.
