Green Smoothies

I don't have much time for a sit-down breakfast. I don't feel like it's working for me to cook greens, grains, etc. and try to eat them while I'm packing my lunch, putting my face on, etc. And I certainly don't have time to chew properly when I'm doing these things. However, I've found the solution: Green Smoothies. As a superhero, I was trying to limit fruit, so I've to 2 servings a day )both in the smoothie. The basic recipie is 40% greens and 60% fruit. I've been using 3c spinach, kale or dandilion greens, 1 banana, 1/4c frozen berries, and blending with either fresh-squeezed juice (NEVER NEVER store bought), water or rice milk. Carrot juice is awesome for this. It sounds like it would be gross to drink your veggies, but it's totally yummy and I feel AWESOME!

Oh, how I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green smoothies are the best way to start your day. They sustain you until lunch. They are portable and if we drink a quart a day, we are getting superlative nutrition never imagined before. We get to optimally use every little molecule of the greens because it is broken down with the blender. This one sort of rocks for me, but experiment. You can't go wrong.
5 leaves of fresh kale
2 cups filtered water
2-3 tbsp agave nectar or 1/2 tsp stevia
1 banana
1 red apple (cut up)
1/2 cup fresh cilantro or mint (or more)

BLEND!!! ENJOY!!! the best way to start your day!

I've not yet tried a green smoothie. I wasn't really sure how to make one. I can't wait to try some of these recipes! Thanks everybody!

They're AWESOME (sigh!)! Mix and match to have whatever you are interested. I've known people to put in avacados, lemons, limes, cinnamon, all knids of stuff!

I made a green smoothie the other day that was so good.

A few kale leaves, 1 cored honeycrisp apple, a few grapes, and a few baby carrots.

I really felt incredible after drinking this!

Do you do this in a blender or a juicer?

I used a blender, but cut everything into small pieces first. I know a juicer would probably be a better bet, but they are so expensive!

I actually prefer my blender for this- using a blender, you get the fiber from the plants, too.
