I ran across the sea vegetables randomly while searching for Mirin...an ingredient in the Black Soybean and Kabocha Squash Stew. Anyhoo -- if you are looking for them, I found them in the International Foods aisle at Whole Foods. Previously I was looking for "fresh" vegetables wondering where the heck I find them if I can't get them at Whole Foods. Anyway, I tried Arame for the first time which added great texture to some brown rice, sauteed veggies and a little bit of Shoyu and Gomashio. The sea vegetables come packaged. With the Arame, you have to soak it in water first -- then i added it to the veggie sautee. Was great.

I found a package of mixed sea vegetables in the refrigerated section of my health food store. They are packed in salt and you rinse them before using. There is a recipe for an apple/veggie salad on the package that sounds excellent. I think I'm going to make it as my foray into sea vegetable consumption. :) I have been using the dried sea veggies in soups and beans, but haven't yet had a dish that centers on them. Glad to hear that the arame was tasty!
