I've been a vegetarian for 3 years now. I recently ordered Alicia's book (haven't gotten it yet though) & I want to become a vegan (or at least more of one!). Not gonna lie, I don't do a sport & I am not very excited by the thought of exercising, & I happen to love grains & sugars. I want to lose 10 or so pounds & become healthier! Any suggestions on how to start (foods/meals, little exercises, etc.) without going too drastic?
Hi Cheyenne - I'm just starting on the vegan trail. I'm on day 3! But for about 2 weeks before this the biggest change I made was take out dairy products. I substituted cow's milk with soy/rice/almond milk. I also no longer use margarine or butter, but instead use Earth Balance (100% vegan). I stopped using white sugar and bought the light agave nectar.
Once you receive The Kind Diet (which you'll love!!) you'll find lots of suggestions on how to substitute things for vegan choices.
I'm also taking it meal by meal. For myself, I know that if I do some big drastic change it will be overwhelming and I'll give up.
As for exercising (not that I'm an avid athlete) a good place to start is by taking a walk! :)
Thanks so much CC! I'm trying to do that too, starting bit by bit, meal by meal. I can't wait to read The Kind Diet. I'm sure we'll be able to keep it going if we just take it one day at a time :)
