Hello Alicia, Jason and other friends:
I have been a veterinarian for over thirty two years now. It has been an extremely rocky road for me and my family, primarily because of my inordinate care for people and other animals. My veterinary career has not been successful financially because of the nature of health care, the amount of people who cannot afford to pay the costs that have incurred for their pet's treatments and the fact that I have been the one to pay my costs without the welfare clients paying their share of the costs. Drug and medical supplies are so expensive and clients on welfare cannot afford to pay for pet insurance.
My life has been turned to lemonade because of the meanness of people.
Alicia and Jason, and others: I hope that you will be kind enough to look at my Blog and want to help the project. It is so important to me, because it is all I have in my life outside of my pets and family. The information and photos of the project are at : http://duanewyatt.wordpress.com
P>S. The only Board of Veterinary Medicine complaint (that I am aware of) came from a welfare client who told me she had a brain tumor, she was on welfare, and her poodle had the deadly Oral Malignant Melanoma. She told me she would die if her poodle died.
I spent over $4000 of my funds to provide for the veterinary school referral care for her pet and also for my care for her pet after the pet relapsed a year later.
A week after I told this client I was closing my clinic and moving home, she or one of her relatives called the Board of Vet. Med. and told them that I suffered from depression, told them about the incident at DUMC and that my clinic was dirty. I was the only vet in town willing to treat their pets for free.
All this info is in my Blog.
