Somebody gave me a hair mask from Arbonne which claims to be vegan. I'm afraid to use it as I have very dry hair and I'm also not sure if its eco-friendly. The main ingredients are Water, cetearyl alcohol, behentrimonium chloride, dimethicone, jojoba seed oil, strearalkonium chloride. I thought alcohol was drying? Any ideas on this stuff?

cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol, which is not drying, and you will find in a lot of natural products. look out for grain alcohol, SD-40 alcohol, denatured alcohol. if it is simply "alcohol" that's listed, organic or not, that would be more drying and/or irritating to sensitive skin. some natural brands like dr. hauschka and weleda use alcohol as a preservative, and it is usually from grains, sugars, etc. but it can still be drying. hope this helps :)
