Hi everyone. I don't know how many of you are in NYC, but I am hosting a pro-pit bull party this Sunday, that I hope the New Yorkers in the group will consider attending.
Best Friends Animal Society and Animal Haven are co-hosting a football themed party to celebrate pit bulls on December 13, 2009. This party, to take place on the day that the Eagles are in town to play the Giants, is meant to get people thinking about the horrors of dog fighting and the negative stereotypes surrounding this loving breed of dog.
Attendees of this free event will be treated to food, games (including a raffle with wonderful prizes) and a talk about Best Friends Animal Society's Pit Bulls: Saving America's Dog campaign, complete with footage of Michael Vick's pit bulls who are now enjoying life at the Best Friends sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. Guests will also get the chance to meet some wonderful Pit Bulls who are up for adoption. The party takes place Dec 13, 3-5 PM at Animal Haven (251 Centre St).
I will try to take a walk down and show support. I would love to bring a pit bull home but my SO wasn't very keen on the idea and I suspect my cats would not like it either.
