Eco Cook Ware

I want to replace all my cookware to make it all envionmentally friendly, and safe for me and those I cook for. No more teflon, plastic, or anything that releases chemicals and is absorbed into my body. I have some LeCreuset Pots, which are all enamel-based, cast iron, or stainless steel. I had thought about just buying more LeCreuset pots, especially for sauteing, but not sure if they are 100% safe. They seem to be, but I am not sure.
I haven't used gladware or other plasic-based food storage containers in over 2 years, and have really come to love pyrex. Glass doesn't leach icky chemicals in our food and bodies like plastic does. :) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!
Good question. i noticed my teflon pan when making my hubby a veggie burger tonight had the teflon peeling away its that old. i need new ones bad and would love to know whats eco friendly too. I'm still trying to find my eco friendly pillows too!!
also looking for cookware that is toxin free etc....noticed my pans beginning to peel and totally freaked out to ever use them again...anyone know of more affordable kitchen cookware options?
The Vegan Table cookbook recommends Xtrema non-stick pots, pans and bakeware at http://www.ceramcor.com/
I really want these, but I can't afford the whole set at the moment. I'm thinking of asking for it for my birthday, though I might end up just getting their skillet and switching to stainless steel pots instead. I want the teflon out of my life!
I just posted the same question before I came upon your post! Thanks for the websites to those that responded, I will check them out.
I just replaced my pots with a line called WearEver (which is a line offered at Walmart). They come a few different ways - tefoln and such but I chose the stainless steal pots. I have really enjoyed them and they are holding up nicely. 2 pots, a skillet, and a big soup pot all with glass lids that strain and a few serving peices cost $59. If you skip the strainning part the pots cost around $39.
I responded earlier to another post by Billi Jo before I saw this one. I got the Cuisinart GreenWare Eco-friendly 10 pc cookware set for Christmas. %70 recycled steel handles, PTFE/PFOA free, petroleum free, "Ceramica" non-stick coating instead of Teflon, and requires less energy to reach cooking temperature. I know there are probably even friendlier cookware sets out there, but they are really expensive! The Cuisinart set was pretty reasonable for 10 pcs. I'd like cast-iron skillets but I can barely lift them they're so heavy!
