I just tried seitan for the first time last night. I couldn't believe how good it was, I'm in about my 6th week meat-free and am still searching for things I like to eat. I tried Tofurky and it was not very good, I also tried tofu-pups but didn't like them either. How glad I was to find something that I truly enjoyed, my husband made a recipe from the cover of last issue of vegetarian times and it was delish !! I downloaded how to make seitan and I'm going to try to make it this weekend. Has anyone tried this before and how did it work? I'm very excited about it !

You definitely should try the "Pecan Crusted Seitan" in Alicia's book. It is just awesome. We let it marinate overnight and it was just unreal! We paired it with the Rustic Pasta and it was like eating spaghetti and meatballs. We haven't tried making our own, but we are going to as well. It looks so easy, there's no reason to buy it if you can buy the ingredients cheaper!

Oh Kim, Carrie's so right, the Pecan Crusted Seitan is insanely good! I'm so glad you liked your seitan - done yummily like you did, it's the BEST!

I will definity try the pecan crusted, pecans are my absolute favorite nuts. I'm going to attempt to make the seitan on Saturday. It's cold here in the northeast and it will be a good day to stay in and cook ! I will post my results for better or for worse.
