Vegan Mamas and Immunizations

I know this can turn into quite a contraversial issue, but I was just curious what your opinions are on giving your children immunizations? And if you do not immunize, how do you deal with the doctors who try to force them onto your children?
It does scare me, and I do feel like the kids get so many!! My soon to be kindergartener will need to get 5 at once soon! That said, you can"t argue with the fact that so many diseases that killed thousands have been wiped out. There was a time in history where most families lost at least one child to small pox, measles or polio. Sadly, it was not shocking at the time to have this happen and we have the luxury of not having to worry about these diseases at all. I for one would be terrified to be in constant fear of these diseases coming back, they do every now and then and it is b/c people don't vaccinate. Back when the autism mmr link began ( I believed it too and split my kids vaccines) they saw a resurgance in measles and people died. Now they give roto virus, chicken pox, and flu (not required yet). I'm not as sure about these b/c (other than flu) I don't think they are necessarily as deadly, but I would never want those scary diseases to come back. Should we be eating clean and healthy to help our bodies fight these things off as well, absolutely, but you can't really argue with the numbers. Doctors forcing them on children? It's really the schools that do that. It seems harmless enough to not want your individual child to receive the measles, polio ... vaccines, problem is, if we all said that, we'd see a resurgance in these things and people would die. I'm sure I've touched a nerve with a lot of people on this website, but I don't want to live in fear like families used to. Having said all that, I am sick and tired of the overmedicating doctors put on our children. Any time we have an issue (I have 3 kids) they throw medicine at us and never even discuss if we live a healthy lifestyle, that is shocking to me.
We decided to not vaccinate.
I have 2 kids with a third on the way. My advice is to find a Doctor that agrees with your opinion. I luckily have a family practice that encourages not to vaccinate. They will vaccinate if someone insists, but they also back it up with other homeopathic injections to help with the possible side affects from the vaccine. I recommend you research what is in the vaccines. They use formaldehyde, mercury, aluminum, eggs, cells from aborted baby fetus', antifreeze and many other scary ingredients that I just can't bare to put in my children's bodies. Most states have an out that you can claim if you choose not to vaccinate. Most people have to choose a religious exemption because not all states allow philosophical exemptions. I claim religious exemption. The catch is you either can't vaccinate at all, or you have to do all 38 required vaccines. You can't claim an exemption if you choose to only do a few vaccines. There is something totally wrong with that amount of vaccines! I was only given 9 in my life, and I've been okay. I have a dear friend who's daughter recently had a severe vaccine injury. If you want to talk more about it, you can e-mail me, or go to my site on this blog. Good luck. I think you made a wise decision!- Temple
I just wanted to add that there is a great website to check out that reports on vaccine injuries and what's in the vaccines themselves. It's called the National Vaccine Information Center. The website is: newsnvic@gmail.com
Check it out!
Should you choose to vaccinate, you can do a delayed or alternative schedule, where they are spaced out. Dr. Sears has an outline of a schedule in his book, "The Vaccine Book."
We spaced out our vaccines. This was before I watched a beautiful truth, a really interesting movie.
Thanks Ladies for all the wonderful responses :-)
I only let the doc. give 2 at a time. I can't believe that they would try to give 6 at once to a baby. Shocking. You are now able to research the contents of the vaccinations. You can request to get the single vaccine dose for the multi mixed vaccines as well. Such a hard decision. Mothering Mag posted a great vaccine article. You can check it out on their website.
Have to second yogi mama's (great name btw!) as I found the Mothering Mag to be a great article as well. We are non-vaccine at the moment (daughter is 4 mos) but my husband is pushing for the alternate schedule outlined in the Vaccine Book - starting to become a touchy subject with us so we shall see.
