I brought the chocolate peanut butter cups to work today and after everyone told me how delicious they were, I said, "and they're vegan!" The response was a rolling of the eyes and someone remarked "duh, of course there is no meat in this!" (UGH!)

In addition to this, there was a work party that was all meat. Even the veggies were cooked in butter and bacon! It actually made me feel sick to smell it since there was so much in the room. I really dislike being singled out but it's worse when people feel the need to shine a light on the differences.

Overall, eating this way makes me very happy and I know it is healthier. But the eye rolling and constant questions and insults and defensiveness is really starting to get old.

I just was talking to my mom..she is not vegetarian but is kinda flirting with less meat now that she knows more info from my constant talking and reading Alicia's book. She was at work today and for her lunch she had some steamed kale with a little sausage and some parmesean noodles. Someone came in the break room and said " OMG are you a vegetarian?!" My mom was like..no and asked why she asked that. The girl was like...oh because what's that on your plate..spinach? My mom told her what it was and told her she was what her daughter calls a flirting vegetarian. LOL My mom was shocked that people are so bold and kinda rude. She was like.."you can't have anything GREEN on your plate without people wondering if you are veggie!?" I told her..this is what i deal with on a constant basis now...although some people are really curious and have lots of interesting questions so that kinda tempers the smart-alec types. Hang in there Steph and remember you are not alone.

One day..THEY.. will see the light..even if it is in the form of the bright lights above them as they are having their triple by-pass surgery 10 years from now LOL but they will eventually see the light.
