This is such a ridiculous article suggesting that since plants TRY to survive and live, that vegans are wasting their time by sparing the lives (and SUFFERING) of animals? It is amazing to me how people are able to twist truths into justification. One reader points out that you can pick an apple off of a tree without killing a tree, but you cannot pluck a pork loin from a pig without killing the pig.
It is so scary to me how corrupt the food industry has become. Nobody wants to confront the truth because steak tastes good. While I know that I could never kill, skin, and cut an animal to feed myself, I can *almost* make peace with the carnivore who respects animals enough to allow them to live natural lives.
The more I learn, the more depressed I become. I know I'm making an impact by giving up meat, but I am really starting to feel like the world is completely doomed. (Reading comments on newspaper articles never helps.)
