hey guys...my friend found the most adorable kid friendly lop-eared rabbit. She cant keep it, has put up signs for the owner, but needs to find a home ASAP. We are in Northern California...anyone who is interested in this great little girl...please let me know! Our humane society here will take her but rabbits tend to be euthanized;(
Does your class need a pet to take care of?
Too bad we live in TX...I love bunnies!
Hope you get a 'nibble'.
xoxoxo
Thanks french_momma for the reply...unfortunately I cant have a pet with fur in my classroom because so many of my kiddos have allergies to different things. We have a pet frog instead:)
RABBITS DO NOT MAKE GOOD CLASSROOM PETS. They HATE being picked up. It's cruel to the rabbit, in my opinion. As prey animals, they're naturally fearful of being grabbed and lifted. It's like being caught by a hawk!
The ideal rabbit situation is allowing her to hop out of her cage and explore the room. You sit on the floor quietly and let her come over to you for petting. Eventually she will. This is assuming she's an indoor bunny, though. And I hope she is! (But that's another story)
Anyway, sorry for the mini soapbox rant. Try posting on the forums here: http://www.binkybunny.com/
They're a very helpful bunch, and the community has rabbit lovers/owners from all over the country.
