Hi everyone,

My name is Diane Leigh, and I'm the co-founder of a non-profit organization called No Voice Unheard. We've found a nice publishing beautiful books that give voice to animals.

Our first was One at a Time: A Week in American Animal Shetler. It tells tthe true stories of 75 animals who passed through a typical U.S. animal shelter during 7 days that we witnessed and documented. We actually founded No Voice Unheard after publishers and agents told us the book was too "sad" to be marketable - instead, we published it ourselves. It's now in a 4th printing, has won awards from the HSUS and ASPCA, and is used as a college coursebook!

Our next book was Thought to Exist in the Wild: Awakening from the Nightmare of Zoos, by environmental author Derrick Jensen, with photos by Karen Tweedy-Holmes.

I'm most excited about our upcoming book, Ninety-Five:Meeting American's Farmed Aniimals in Stories and Photographs. We wanted to show readers than farmed animals are thinking, feeling beings - the book is filled with gorgeous photos and stories of rescued animals living at places like Farm Sanctuary, the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, Peaceful Prairie, and others. It will come out in June, 2010, but we're starting to try to get the word out.

Also working on getting celebrity endorsements for it, as that will help a small, non-profit publisher like ourselves to have credibility in the publishing world. Already have endorsements from writers John Robbins, Jeffrey Masson, and Rory Freedman. Contacting many others.

It's nice to be here with kindred spirits living "the kind life"!!

All the best,
Diane Leigh
