I've been using either vaseline(which I don't know if its eco-friendly, please tell me) or I was using Lancomes eyemakeup remover till I found out it was tested on animals. Everything seems to tug my delicate eyelashes out. Anyone use anything good that won't pull out ur lashes. I don't use waterproof mascara.

You should try Blum Naturals. They have makeup removing towelettes and also eye makeup remover pads. I can't vouch for the eye makeup remover pads, but I like the towelettes. These are not tested on animals - therefore vegan friendly. Yay! I think you can buy them at Whole Foods - I found mine at my local supermarket in the natural foods section beauty aisle. Also, I've seen Physician's Formula has eye makeup remover pads in their organics line. I haven't tried that product, and I don't know what the status of that company's animal testing is.... Have you tried anything from Origins? That sucks about Lancome.

I think Origins, since it's owned by Estee Lauder, is an animal testing company. They also won't sign the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.
What I use is a homemade makeup remover made from chamomile essential oil and coconut oil.
Also Aubrey Organics makes a nice makeup remover and they are vegan.

there is a great brand called yes to carrots. They don't test on animals and they don't use any animal products, except a few products contain beeswax but it is organic and cruelty free. I have tried their moisturizer and lip balm and I love it! I've heard their makeup remover is great to. I know in Canada yes to carrots is sold at shoppers drugmart, but im not sure where it is sold in the U.S. check out their website, www.yestocarrots.com. it's super informative and all of their ingredient list are available online. Hope this helps! -Deni

Amy - I have done a crapload of research on makeup and beauty products so feel free to bug me as much as you want about what to use/not to use...really I mean a CRAP load of research...

mascara remover - I use some of Living Nature's products (most of their stuff contains honey which isn't vegan) but they do have an AWESOME makeup remover...unfortunately you can't just buy it in the store because it comes from New Zealand...their products are %100 percent, seriously, natural, no chemicals whatsoever...I buy their makeup from a website called Saffron Rouge ...http://www.saffronrouge.com...

about the comments above...I have never heard of Blum, but I'll check them out...I used to use Origins until I found out that their parent company is Estee Lauder which is a huge animal tester (even though Origins claims they don't test their products on animals, their parent company does and I don't want to support anyone affiliated with animal testing), and they still use some chemicals in their products so I don't buy from them anymore...the body shop's parent company is L'Oreal, another huge animal tester, and their products still contain some harmful chemicals...

I have heard of yes to carrots and so far they get a thumbs up in my book, but I haven't done too much research on them because I use more high-end products, I haven't tried them yet so I don't know how effective their products are, but you can get some of their products at Target (which if you can buy it at a drugstore it's probably not top of the line) but it is good to support natural products at places like Target because it shows stores that there is a demand for more natural cruelty-free items!!!

ps. I'm not a total product snob I wash my face with Dr. Bronner's Magic Castile Soap, which is awesome if you have oily skin, it's pretty cheap and you can buy it at Target or Whole Foods!!

:) hope this helps a little...

Have you tried using olive oil mixed with castor oil on a tissue or cotton ball? That's what I use to remove eye makeup and it works just fine. You can try just using olive oil, and then wash with your usual soap and water. I use cotton swabs dipped in oil for the hard to reach undereye region. Of course, you can use something specifically designed to remove makeup, but I'm always trying to have less products on hand because I used to be a total makeup junkie!

I use Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) eye makeup remover. It's about $6 a bottle and lasts me a few months. I buy it at my natural food co op, but if you don't have one near you, you can also order it from vegan sites like www.cosmosveganshoppe.com or www.alternativeoutfitters.com . It's very gentle and effective and cheap!

Kristen, I'm the same way I don't usually buy anything at drugstores I usually buy more high end skincare. I am going to check out the saffronrouge line as well as the BWC at the veganshopppe. Thank u all so much. I have the hardest time finding anything that doesn't pull out my lashes while I'm removing my mascara. Lancome was the only thing that ever worked for me but I've banned them.
