I get so confused when it comes to the myths v. realities of eating fruit. I understand that some types contain more sugar than others but how much is too much? And isn't the fact that since fruit is found in nature its a whole food and okay to eat? Even if you have more than one piece a day? Is it true that it "rots" in your stomach, produces gas and shouldn't be eaten with other foods, rather as a snack by itself?
Oh, be kind to my little fruit. I get so confused too. To eat fruit or to not?!?!!? Hum. What is a girl to do???? I say, Yay!!!!
fruit is nature's candy. and with candy, moderation is key. i'd say keep consumption down to 1-2 servings of fruit a day.
fruit contains a LOT of sugar and is pretty acidic. while the sugar is good b/c it's natural, you still don't want to be eating a ton of it. and too much fruit is very corrosive to your teeth! just ask raw foodists who eat fruit all day.
I'm no nutritionist, but I think if you keep the portions reasonable, an apple or orange or some berries in the morning with something something sweeter at night would be BETTER than not.
If you find yourself eating fruit all day long...not so much.
Just make sure you know a ballpark on calorie intake and sugar from the fruits you eat most often and regulate your consumption based on a reasonable portion of your calories coming from sugars.
