Hi everybody!

My name is Maria, I'm a high school teacher, 25, and am lovin' life! I've been vegetarian for 2 years now, and am slowly "flirty" with veganism. My hardest challenge is cutting out yogurt and cheese, everything else I don't seem to have a problem with. My mom got me The Kind Diet for christmas (shes the best) and a fair trade purse from Istanbul, regardless..... I have been reading the book intensely and have gotten some great ideas for cooking!

Look forward to chatting and sharing ideas!

Maria :)

Hi Maria! I'm in CT too, but New Haven area.

Have you tried ION (It's Only Natural) in Middletown, CT? Their food is amazing. I recommend the southern fried tofu for appetizer, pierogis with apple butter and vegan sour cream for dinner and coconut cake for dessert!

Oh my gosh! ION is my FAVORITE place! I eat there at least once a month! I think the Cali Melt is my favorite. DO you go to Edge of the Woods often? It's so great in there! I've only been once, but i think thats down your way! We should find some other "Kind Lifers in CT" and have a shindig at ION!

yeah, edge of the woods is pretty cool. it's a little expensive, but i go there for the bulk spices whenever i'm running low. they're sooo cheap! and i can just buy as much as i need instead of a big bottle like the supermarkets stock.

there's a pretty nice health food store in hamden too. i think it's called thyme and season. they sell vegan & naturally sweetened fudge and chocolate there. soo good!

i'd be down for a ION meetup if we got enough people!!!
