If vegan products aren't tested for safety on animals...

then who or what are they testing things on? Are people voluntarily signing up to be tested on with mysterious and uncertain chemicals for safety?
I know that alot of vegan companies can label themselves with the vegan label since they don't do the animal testing themselves. They'll have a third party do the testing or the companies that provide the ingredients/chemicals to the vegan company are the ones that do the testing. So this way the vegan companies, and often natural/"natural" companies, can keep their vegan, or natural, label.
Thoughts?

similar to one organic ingredient and they call their product "organic". Let's hope they use ingredients that have been tried and true for hundreds of year then they can test it on themselves like I do.

I think that in the last decade, there have been great strides made in the variety of vegan products available for both household and personal hygeine/cosmetics. There is more choice. The research and development on many of the compounds used has already been done.

So.

IF the product uses third-party testing from the 70's...I have no issue with that because whatever damage was done has already been done, and if they can use those testing results to prevent a new round of testing, I'm all about that.

Yes, sometimes, human trials are conducted, and I have no issue with people making an informed decision to sign up for that.

What I find problematic is exactly what you posted at the top...the current third-party testing that is being used. I think, however, that the realistic solution to this type of issue is twofold:

1.) Label read. If the product has simple, natural ingredients, then you can be confident that you're buying something that required no testing. If it doesn't, then write down the brand name and alien ingredients and research before buying.

2.) As goes the diet of the nation, so will go the use of animals in non-food products. I am absolutely convinced that as vegan eating and organic eating become more mainstream, the rest of these issues will follow.
