Hi Everybody-

I finished reading Alicia's book over the weekend and it was nothing less than life changing for me. I went out to lunch with my family yesterday and ordered a burger and exactly what I was hoping would happen to me happened. I ate a few bites of it and almost gagged. And I'm someone who loves a good hamburger. The images I saw of cows hanging upside down and bleeding on the PETA site left a very strong impression on me- it was horrifying.

I don't think eating began will be as big a hurdle for me as trying to cut out white sugar will be. I am ADDICTED to sugar. I'm a candy addict. I'm lucky my metabolism is decent because I have 30 lbs to lose but I deserve to weight much more than I do with the junk that I put in my body right now. If anyone has tips on how they weaned themselves off of sugar successfully, I'd love to hear it! I also love my one can of diet coke a day- and I'm not a big tea drinker or soy milk fan. Besides water, does anyone have any good beverage suggestions?

Happy New Year!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,
I recently saw a nutritionist who is trying to wean me off of sugar. I moved to agave nectar and was told in the apothecary where I was that agave is like corn syrup! Maple syrup was recommended and I am thinking about trying that next...
I love loose leaf tea with lavender and red roses, so much goodness. I was not a big tea person either, but now I start every morning with tea. My belief is try everything you think you do not like again. That is how I came to love beets!
Don't give up the sugar completely--eat what you like but not too much of anything. The more you change the things that you eat the more different types of cravings that you have.
