Hello everyone! My name is Jenny and I've been Vegetarian for a year now and love living a life meat free. Today is day 1 that I am giving up diary and eggs and will be following the Kind Life. I have enjoyed this book so much, its the best vegan/vegetarian book I've ever read and I'm so excited to begin to incorporae more "Kindess" in all aspects of my life.
Congrats Jenny! You won't believe how easy it will be. I never thought I could give up cheese but after about two weeks it's like NBD. I almost think dairy cheese is just mucky muck junk now and ruined the flavor of food. It's so easy to eliminate it at many restuarants, like mexican or italian places and at home you have so many fun options.
hiiii all! just purchased alicia's book and LOVED it. it really opened my eyes and i now know just how much the food we eat affects our body, our animal friends and our planet. it has really cast a new light on life for me! i am currently "flirting" as alecia calls it. i have decided to cut out meat and processed foods and work towards eliminating dairy as well! i am SO excited and can't wait to update you on my progress. good luck to everyone and thank you alecia!
I've have been meat free for 2 years and I love it! I have virtually eliminated eggs. I no longer drink milk, but I'm finding it very difficult to eliminate cheese products. I have not been able to find satisfactory non dairy cheese. If any one as any suggestions on good non dairy cheeses, I'd really appreciate it. Good luck to Jenny on her commitment to a vegan lifestyle!
Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Hi Alicia! Thank you so much for responding to my post! You are a huge inspiration to me and I think you are beautiful inside and out. I've been telling everyone I know about your book! Just finished eating dinner. Day #1 in the books! I already feel better, I have been having head aches off and on today. But I know it will take a few days for my body to adjust from no longer having the junk aka "milk and cheese" in my system. I hope everyone had a fantastic first day of 2010. I sure did.
Hi Jenny! I welcome you also... I have been vegetarian (with occassional chicken, but gave it up easily two months ago) for about two years now, and today is my first official day of veganism. I have been flirting with it for a while now, but thought why not start the year right? I would love suggestions as well for alternate dairy products. I have been a soy milk drinker for YEARS, but I do love cheese. I went today as well with no dairy. It is sometimes a challenge it seems. However, I thought giving up chicken would have been and it wasn't. I hope eliminating dairy will be the same!Does anyone have any good bread suggestions as well? Or a great homemade recipe that doesn't involve a breadmaker? Thanks!
It's really great that there are so many vegans and vegetarians out there I never knew about! :) I've been a vegetarian for about 6 months and now am becoming vegan. I'm worried about giving up cheese as well ^ but hopefully won't have too much trouble. The book was amazing! Helped me out so much. I wish you luck with all of your adventures with food :D
