I recently made the switch to vegan, although at first the food is a little pricey to start out i am determined to do it. My problem is i would rather buy vegan food than vegan shoes. I want to feed myself right before buying fashion and shoes that are kind.
So i was wondering what ppls opinions are on buying second hand clothes and shoes? I bought a nice pair of leather boots for £5 fro my local charity shop (the PDSA which supports an animal charity) I don't feel guilty in the slightist but know eventually i want to buy vegan friendly everything.
I think that buying second hand is a compromise i'm going to have to make for now.

I always thought about this. I thought if the clothes are already made then why not recycle them. The only thing I won't is leather and fur. That way I won't be supporting it via wearing. You are right though. I need to buy the food first on my budget. It is not like shopping at Giant and getting tons of coupons and sales. It is much more expensive. Thrift Stores may be the way to go, seriously!

O and by the way, I always had the thought, well the animal is already dead so I am not directly supporting the company by buying it second hand. I then thought about wearing it and people getting the wrong idea. But I am not ragging on you for it. It's just my opinion. :)!

I get this, too. I have a back problem and bought special supportive shoes and they had leather. I don't feel great about that, but my back is so bad sometimes that I can't walk. My strategy otherwise is to just wear out the shoes I have (leather) and anything new will be vegan. I don't know of any comfortable vegan shoes though. I bought some Madden Girl shoes and they are ok. It says "all man made material".

I don't think you should feel bad about keeping your back healthy! It's funny I was just talking to my mother-in-law today. She was trying to find some good arch supportive shoes and she could not find any that did not have leather. Sometimes you need to take care of yourself so you can walk on and take care of the world:)! If I ever see any though I will let you know. She is searching right now.
