I need some glass jars for food storage and I would like to purchase the same glass jars that Alicia shows in her pantry in her book. Does anyone know where she got them?

I do not know where she got hers, but I picked some up at a garage sale. I have also seen some at Ikea, Walmart, and all the gourmet cooking stores. Also, ask your mom or grandmother, they always had cool glass jars.

Garage sales absolutely...or if you have a thrift store or antique stores in your area, the old Ball canning jars, which are great for storage (you can also buy the Ball canning jars new at places like Walmart, target, etc. but i like the idea of recycling)...

I have been collecting old coffee and flour jars for years and if you like to hunt, you can get really nice ones in lots of different sizes for between $4-12 bucks. Great for all the bulk food items.

If you don't have the time to hunt, aside from the canning jars, I know Martha Stewart has a line of glass jars at Kmart, as does Target (Anchor Hocking - stocked in the 'basics' area of the stores by all the clear glass stuff like butter dishes, cake plates, etc.)...

Thank you both for your help! I saw the ones at Ikea, but I will check out our local antique and thrift stores so I can recycle. Thanks again. :)

Hi there! Just wanted to throw out that I've got a few air tight glass jars from IKEA, and they are great!! I bought tupperwear from IKEA that I hate, because it doesn't seal well enough to keep food fresh. However, the glass jars are the best in my kitchen! Also, I reuse my old jars from everything to store food in! For example, my old peanut butter jars are great for holding the opened package contents of hijiki or wakame. I even tape the label from the original bag to the glass jars to help with organizing/labeling. Also, some of the tiny glass tea jars with cork lids that I've received staying at some nice hotels have worked amazingly for storing herbs and seasonings from my vegetable garden!

The ones in her book look similar to ones I have found online at Crate & Barrel, I have bought storage and prep bowls from their site before and I am really happy with them.

I just went out and purchased a variety of sizes of the Ball canning jars...I went online when I got home to discover that they use BPA in the lining of their lids...I will returning them today and looking for a different option!!! :(
