I decided back in November that at the first of the year I would attempt a vegan diet inorder to lose some weight and get healthier... after reading The Kind Diet I realized how much I was doing to make the earth healthier!
It took me a little time to talk myself into it becuase when I was a teenager, I went vegitarian for nearly 2 years. I never had anyone to role model after and ended up eating a lot of junk food. Basically if there was no meat involved, I'd eat it. This led to a lot of weight gain. After going back to a carnivorous diet, I tried the Adkins approach and lost a lot of weight (nearly 50lbs!) But it was so insustainable (not to mention my mood sucked!) I eneded up gaining all the wieght back after 5years or so...
So I figured if I could cut out dairy and keep processed foods to a minimum, it would really keep me from eating allt he fattening and unhealthy things out there... So here I am 16days in and I'm feeling great! I can tell my body is starting to detox and that's ok too.. I know on the other side there is going to be a great existance! Not to mention I've already lost my holiday weight! It's so easy knowing that there's a much greater cause behind my daily actions... I'm a recycling nut and love living as green as possible...I love knowing I'm doing the best I can for the planet. Some day soon I aspire to be a Superhero... but as all good journeys, one day at a time!
Anyway, there's my story, I live in the DC area and would love to meet fellow vegans!
