Hello! (An intro and a rant)

Just wanted to say hi and launch a small rant.

So, I've been veg for years and years, and three years ago went vegan. It was great and easy for a while, but then became hard once I went back to school and met an omnivore boy. Plus I found out that I had a major vitamin D deficiency. So, back I went to eggs and dairy. Sigh.

However, over the hoidays, I read Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer, which is both a great book and a sad book. In any event, it's what I needed to re-examine why I went vegan in the first place. So I'm at my second attempt.

Which brings me to my rant. It is SO HARD to go out with friends to a local pub and find something that ISN'T smothered with cheese. I mean, I can go to vegan restaurants, but usually I end up going all by my lonesome. If I want to hang out with my vegetarian and omni friends, in large groups, it's like I'm relegated to eating french fries or lettuce with vinaigrette. Why can't more places have good vegetarian options MINUS THE CHEESE!?

Anyway, that's my rant. I am looking forward to being part of a kind online community.

:-)
