Headaches in the first week?

Did anyone else get headaches when starting out?
I have been trying TKD for a week now and the last 4 days had a headache. I am not super strict but not just flirting either, in the last week once I had vegetarian fetta cheese in my sala (which has milk in it) and also 1 tin of tuna. Everything else has been vegan friendly.
Just wondering if my headache could be from something new I am having like lots of chickpeas and beans or some kind of detox.
Thanks :)
I actually had migraines the first two weeks of being Vegan. I am on my 18th day now... and haven't had a migraine in 4 days.. lol. I've heard but I'm not completely sure that it's suppose to be because your body is detoxing. I actually had a funky arm pit smell too that I didn't even know was apart of detoxing until I saw it in a book! LOL ( TMI I know...)But that's gone too... thank god! But on the positive side, I've lost 15 pounds, my anxiety has gone from debilitating to almost under control, and my asthma is gone. I also feel more clear, my eyes, my head everything. My skin is even looking better! Hope my response helped a little? LOL
Hi Ash, Yay for loosing 15 pounds, thats great.
I also suffer bad anxiety, started about 10 months ago, I am currently on some mediation, which I would love to come off, although the axiety got so bad, I couldnt function. I have felt anxious a bit in the last 24 hours, you have just given me another reason to stick with it :) the more I find out about the positive affects of TKD the more motivation I get.
Thanks for the reply.
I have also been having terrible headaches, but have found that they are directly related to eating soy products. Soy can cause this type of headache, and also constipation, which is why I think Silverstone mentions a few times in her book to limit it if possible :)
Hi All,
I have been advocating for dietary change for my patient population for over 10 years. I have learned a lot on this forum. I have been reading about detoxification. This is not something I have experienced in my practice but is obviously something that happens to patients when they change their diets.
The concept of detoxification is relatively simple. The Western diet represents toxins being introduced into the body. As long as the toxins are being piled on, your symptoms are less than once the toxins are stopped.
This idea makes sense but may not always be the explanation. In my experience, people changing their diet feel better almost instantly.
It is possible that when you changed your diet you introduced something new and that new thing is what's causing your symptoms. Soy is a possibility. There are other ingredients found in vegan convenience foods that are not uncommon sources of symptoms like headache or skin breakouts. Ingredients like organic dehydrated cane juice crystals, tapioca or carragean.
I would suggest you consider trying the superhero plan for a few weeks. It is the best way to get this process started.
