Hi there! I just finished Alicia's book. A great reminder for myself, as I've been "dabbling" in vegetarianism for the past 20 years & am seriously considering becoming a vegan now. The meat substitutes 20 years ago left a lot to be desired in terms of texture & taste. I'm pleasantly surprised with the options in the market nowadays. What an improvement!
I am a mom of 9 year old twin girls, 2 cats (14 & 11 years old) and a Chihuahua mix (10 years old). I live in Southern California where there are plenty of options (in terms of markets & restaurants). My husband is a meat & potatoes man who scoffs at my dishes (although passed off several vegetarian dishes that he thought were delicious.... until he discovered it was vegetarian!) The man has a psychological block against non-meat products. Sigh.
My girls are on board with me but what do some of you do when you have a divided family?
I am currently recovering from spinal surgery. I had a hemangioma (a common benign tumor) on T6 that burst due to trauma. It bled out & took doctors 18 months to figure out why I was in so much pain & debilitation.
Glad to be here!
