Hello There, My name is Amie and I've been vegan for a month now.

I tried the vegan, last year, and I had a hard time with it, because I was a vegetarian for such a long time, and I always would substitute cheese for meat.

Last October I started having these horrible stomach pains. They would happen at least once a week, and I'd always wake up around 3 am with them. They hurt SO bad. I couldn't sleep, eat, walk, nothing. I would have to make myself throw up just to feel better, and I had no idea what was wrong with me. I finally went to the Dr. one day because the pain was so bad that I thought I was dying. The Dr. Told me that I had air pockets in my stomach caused by acidity in foods. Apparently my stomach isn't able to digest acidity. The Dr. even put me on a medication that I had to take twice a day to help digest acidity. However, I hate taking medication.

I started reading the kind diet in December. I decided that not only do I want to go vegan, but i really felt like I needed to go vegan. So I went vegan again on January 1st.

January started, and I've been totally vegan for the whole month. I feel great, I keep getting compliments on my skin, I even feel more in-tune with my body. and surprisingly enough, I DONT EVEN CRAVE DAIRY OR CHEESE! AT ALL!!! it's amazing. I've even lost 4 pounds this month, so that's great too!!

The best news out of all of this is that I stopped taking my medication all together and I haven't had any issues with my stomach. a few times did i feel a little acidity, and i knew exactly what food was the cause of it because I've been making all my food and I could tell which foods were upsetting me!

I honestly feel like I've been eating this way for forever! and I really don't plan on going back. I feel like I'll be vegan for the rest of my life. I think it was easierfor me this time around too because I had a ton of support from my husband and my friends.

PS.

I got my husband to be vegan with me, also i inspired my friend Nicole to go vegan as well. I even inspired one of my friend's aunt to go vegetarian due to a facebook blog that I've been keeping with my vegan journey. so thanks to those people and Ms. Alicia Silverstone, for being such an inspiration to me in going through with this lifestyle. =)

I am not totally vegan yet. I have been a vegetarian in the past for about 6 years, stopped for a while and am a vegetarian again going on 3 months. I cant wait to make the vegan transformation. I need to educate myself more on it first. I have not read The Kind Diet yet but plan to do so soon.

Anyway, I keep hearing the skin benefits. I really need help in that department. I have moderate adult acne that I can't wait to get rid of. My skin is softer and less dry though.
