Calling all Vegans!I am a avid vegetarian looking to become vegan. However, I just started a national tour that is about a year long. It is difficult to find options as it is, traveling, being on the bus most of the day, different cities, etc. So please offer any suggestions you may have for a person who if forced to eat out, and most often has no fridge or microwave. I can't have oatmeal for every meal!! Help!
Many Thanks, Om Shantih.
Ok in a pinch, PB and J on organic whole wheat bread could be done in the bus easily. Organic granola bars, lots of fruit to snack on - I guess my point being there that you don't go to a restaurant too hungry i.e. decrease temptation to non vegan dishes.
In restaurants, don't be afraid to ask the chef to not put cheese in something. I'm thinking pasta, filling, no cheese/meat and you are good to go. Salads (but thats obvious)... Also would be about googling the town before hand to see what sort of veggie/vegan restaurants are about.
Good luck! It is so hard to be on the road and trying to make a new lifestyle work. But good for you for being pro-active and asking for help, thats huge. Oh and tell the people you are with that you are vegan, they may be helpful to pick a restaurant with choices for you. Good conversation topics too, really not many people can argue with wanting to help the environment and make good choices which could curb cancer...
