Pilates

I rarely am a "buy something off an infomercial" girl, but I bought Mari Winsor's pilates package. I just got it in the mail and tried it out yesterday (snow day...yeay!). Can I just tell you guys that I am wicked sore today!??! Has anyone out there tried it yet?
Mari Winsor is great! I bought her Winsor Pilates video set years ago from an infomercial and then bought it on DVD a few years later. I've always toned up really quickly with Mari's workouts - and yep, you'll ache for a couple of days after your first go!
It feels great, though! I usually hate exercising, but with this new diet I have a ton of energy. And pilates is super relaxing!
I also bought them about 10 years ago from an infomercial. I agree they work. I followed the videos for a month and everyone actually did ask what my secret was! =)
Was wondering though about other DVDs for Pilates that are good, any suggestions?
I've gotta say, I've got Pilates DVDs by Ana Caban, Suzanne Deason, Lynne Robinson, Louise Solomon and Alycea Ungaro but I honestly prefer Mari Winsor's teaching style to any of them. I guess the best of the rest for me would have to be Suzanne Deason's "Pilates for Weight Loss". It's a Gaiam production and includes several workouts at different levels, so it's pretty good value too... xx
I have the Ana Caban one, too. I just thought it was very choppy. Not one consistent workout...
I bought this package too! AMazing workout isn't it??
Try doing winsor pilates for 7 minutes the FIRST thing when you wake up. A co-worker suggested it to me and I have been trying it for a couple of days now and feel really energized for my day! No slow groggy mornings. It feels like a coffee boost without the caffiene. Just a little tip :).
That's a really good idea. I walk my dog in the morning but I was thinking about doing a short yoga session as soon as I get up, having my breakfast and then taking Frankie-pup out. I think that Pilates would be better suited to waking you up in the morning than yoga though - I do yoga to relax before bed right now. I'd probably want to climb back under the covers if I start doing that first thing in the morning! You've convinced me - I'm going to add a short Pilates workout to my morning routine. I'll let you all know how I get on! xx
I woke up pretty early today and after my morning tea, I thought about going back to bed, but I forced myself to do my pilates and now I feel energized. Today's workout was intense....my legs and arms are so weak right now!! Definitely going to be super sore tomorrow!
