Hi everyone!!

I have a one year old son who has been veggie since birth but I'm not sure about introducing a vegan diet to him. My husband is also a vegetarian (as am I) but he has some reservations about Bodhi eating vegan. I'm finding it hard to resist finishing up Mr. Bodhi's grilled cheese sandwiches and other cheesy goodies while trying to eat vegan myself. Any other Mom's or Pop's running into this type of thing? I'm sure he will probably continue to eat some dairy and so I know it will be in the house. The cheese is a major temptation for me. Arrgh!

Why do you feel that your son needs dairy products if you don't? It is not necessary for proper growth and has been shown to contribute to cancer risks. Milk actually leeches Vitamin D from the bones which is why they have to fortify it in the first place. Just wondering why you think he needs this in his life.

I actually don't think he needs dairy but his father does. It's been a bit of a back and forth. He is somewhat on board but not something that we have come to 100% agree on. We are not new to vegetarianism but completely vegan virgins. We are both nervous about making sure that Bodhi has all that he needs nutritionally. It's not that I don't think he can thrive without eggs/dairy but I don't know exactly how to feed my already picky son. He has not been a major fan of some of the vegan treats I've prepared for him. I'm sure it is trial and error like any other food. I feel I need to learn & live this lifestyle for awhile so I can introduce veganhood properly to my kiddo.
