Best tasting milk alternative?

I wanted to post a question here about milk alternatives. My son (age 5) loves milk and it's all he wants to drink besides water. (I suppose it could be worse and he could love soda, but there's no soda in our house). Anyway, what is the BEST tasting-closest to milk taste substitute out there? I have soy milk that I use on occaision but he doesn't like that. He's VERY picky. Thanks!

I don't care too much for the flavor of soy milk by itself, either. It's fine in something, but not alone. My suggestion is almond milk. Very light, pleasant flavor, and if you get the vanilla it's got a nice sweetness to it. Very drinkable from the glass, if you're so inclined. Fabulous in cereal!

I love So Delicious brand Coconut milk. It's not like canned coconut milk that you use for cooking, but can be found in a "milk carton" in the dairy aisle (I usually find it at wholefoods, not at my local supermarket, but it's worth the 10 minute drive to get it). They have original, unsweetened and vanilla. I really like the original. It has a nice "milky" consistency and tastes good too. They also make great dairy free yogurts and their ice cream is decadent.

Almond milk! I tried soy milk and the taste is just really not that great in my opinion. Almond milk has a nice taste that you can drink by itself. You can even make it yourself too!

I agree with reluctanthippie. My five year old loves So Delicious coconut milk beverages. They also make mini coconut milk ice cream sandwiches that are the perfect size for little fingers and taste amazing.

Yes, I find the soy milk different and you'd want to be careful giving that to him very much anyway ....not great for kids from the estrogen effects....plus the flavored has so much sugar......thanks for the suggestions from everyone, I want to try So Delicious right now!
